Start submitting your site to many good link directories. You want your site listed with as many actively moderated and privately owned directories as possible. There are many directories that will accept your submission without charging you a fee. By doing this, you’ll be getting links from these directories, which can give your website a higher page rank. It also helps that people know these sites have to be approved, so this gives your website a higher value in the minds of people who see it listed there. This can create traffic for you, as some people who use these directories will see your listing and click on it.
Seek out writers and website owners who can contribute relevant content such as articles to your site and ask them for contributions. Tell them that if they give you an article in your niche topic, you’ll publish a link back to their website. This is good for two reasons. Having more outbound links can help raise your page rank. The other advantage is that you’ll be getting an inbound link, another desirable benefit. If you publish someone’s article on your site, they will want to tell their own readers about this; when they do this, they’ll have to include a link to the article, which is, of course on your website, providing you with a link.
