Tesla vs. Edison lets 2-5 players become one of five pioneering electrical companies in 1880s-1890s America. Featuring a famous genius inventor, you compete to dominate the electric light and power industry via investing in new technology, claiming contracts around the country, and buying and selling stock from the various companies. The company which has the largest stock portfolio at the end of the game is the winner.
The five player positions are highly asymmetrical and lovingly historical: Edison Electric Light Company (Thomas Edison), Westinghouse Electric Corporation (Nikola Tesla), Thomson-Houston Electric Company (Elihu Thomson), Brush Electric Illuminating Company (Charles Brush), or the U.S. Electric Lighting Company (Sir Hiram Maxim). Each company has their inventor as well as two other famous luminaries. Each is rated in up to four abilities: invention, manufacturing, finance, and public relations. These ratings dictate which actions they are able to take or not take, and/or how effective they are. Each turn you may use each of your three luminaries once, serving as "variable power workers" for placement. They invent (and patent!) technologies. Spread your company around the country. Buy and sell stock in yourself and your competitors.
And: fame matters. The best inventor won't necessarily be the one most-rewarded in Tesla vs. Edison. Celebrities of their time, the great inventors themselves and the technologies they choose to invest in and use - alternating or direct current (AC or DC) are topics of public discourse and cultivating your image and that of your technology stack through the efforts of your luminaries is important. 
Tesla vs. Edison is a 90 minute game that is "medium weight strategy" with lots of player interaction. You will feel like you are building technology and expanding a company, while struggling against the easily manipulated perceptions of the public and the periodic devious move by your competitors. Ultimately, the stock market will determine the fate of your nascent industry so roll up your sleeves, get in there, and start buying!
