Without further adieu*,1. We "won" Battle Silicon.Filming the TV show was pretty nerve-wracking, especially as it involved pitching to five esteemed judges including Bob Lin, Canice Wu, and Jack Jia. But in the end our business plan won them over (well, except for Jack Jia) and most importantly, my comedic pitching style came shining through and it made for a good episode. Four out of the five judges voted us "investable", but all of them, and most of the audience too, had a good laugh. Which made me more relaxed, and it ended up actually being fun. As a prize, I am supposed to get some one-on-one mentoring from Canice. The episode can probably be found at the Battle Silicon site at some point. Photo attached, I'm the waistcoat wearer.I also discovered that the beta blocker "propanolol" is good for reducing sweating and heart-pounding, whilst leaving mental state intact.2. We made it to Echelon.Quite possibly Asia's largest tech conference, out of the 400+ startups all over Asia that pitched at the satellite events, despite coming 3rd in the Hong Kong event, we were one of 50 selected for Echelon. What this means in fact is that we get a highly discounted booth, inclusion in some promo materials, and a chance to be one of 10 pitchers on the main stage. I have no idea how to put a booth together and don't like thinking about it. Tablecloths? Posters? Give-aways?It's in Singapore, 10-11 June.3. More pitching.Something on Monday at Grappa's Cellar in Central HK. I don't know much about it but was asked to do a one minute pitch. Sure. Come along, from 3pm.4. More media coverage, more beta signups.Our rate of beta signups has gone off the charts lately. I have no idea why, except that we have attracted a bit of media coverage.
