The tree lined streets, historical buildings and friendly folks are just some of the town's characteristics that exemplifies true southern charm.Downtown Burgaw is a mixture of small retail businesses, professional services, coffeehouses, restaurants and residential units. Most buildings have been in place since the turn-of-the-century. Over the years, the downtown business district has remained the focal point of the town and the county.Burgaw encompasses modern facilities for education, industry and medical care along with Pender County's government offices. The town boasts ample economic opportunities and offers convenient access to the amenities of an urban center. Located just 25 miles west of Wilmington, Burgaw offers easy access to UNCW, Wilmington International Airport, and Interstate 40. Highway 53 and US Highway 117 run through town providing several avenues to a variety of destinations. While bordered by woods and farmlands, Burgaw is a mere 30 minutes away from area beaches.Downtown Burgaw is home to the North Carolina Blueberry Festival. An annual festival that celebrates the historic, economic, and cultural significance of blueberries in the southeastern region of our state.
