Center for Empowerment and Employment Training (CEET) “Providing a helping hand up the ladder to a better future for people who need it” The Center for Empowerment and Employment Training (CEET) is a 501 ( c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created to provide educational and job training services to low income and disadvantaged adults of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. CEET provides custom-tailored training in the following areas: Specialized Job Training (Customer Service and Sales, preparation for A+ Certification examination, Automated skills training (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Introduction to Basic Computer Skills and the Internet) GED Preparatory classes (Mathematics, Science, Personal Development seminars, Language Arts, Social Studies, General GED Studies Adult Basic Education classes (Reading/Remedial Reading) –offered during the day year round Communication classes (Business Writing, Public Speaking, English Grammar) Accounting and Bookkeeping classes Entrepreneurial Development Training (How to start your own business) Job Readiness and Life Skills seminars and assistance with job search Annual On-going Programs Family-to-Family Mentoring Program - This opportunity is available to families who are willing to spend several hours on a monthly basis (Saturdays) for up to one year, to attend program activities such as Family Night that will include opportunities to bond with assigned mentor families. These events might include educational enrichment, self-esteem enhancement, cultural enrichment activities, family and peer improvement activities in the forms of arts and crafts projects, sharing resources, attending seminars on financial management, job readiness, community resources, parenting classes, nutrition classes, domestic violence and so forth. DC Fatherhood Initiative - Under the DCFI program, CEET provides seminars, parenting classes, case management, domestic violence referrals, resume development, financial literacy and management, GED and other services three days a week (Mondays-Wednesdays). Economic development training is designed to enhance a participant’s employability and to offer the skills necessary to maintain or increase economic stability in their lives. The target population includes teens, homeless, ex-offenders and persons with limited or no English.
