She woke up at 8am after eleven hours of sleep. I had woken an hour earlier, so had already enjoyed a coffee, showered and browsed the internet. I thought she might go back to sleep, but she leapt up from the bed shouting "Raaaah! I scare you Daddy!" I'm a dragon!", laughing and grinning. I knew she was ready for the day ahead.Shortly after we went downstairs to the restaurant where I enjoyed a breakfast Quesidilla and Carlie had fruit and toast. Grandma came, and after collecting the stroller and our swimming gear from upstairs we went out into the sunshine. The day was equally as warm as the previous one, and there were lots of families with young children in the streets and parks enjoying the weather., and there were lots of families with young children in the streets and parks enjoying the weather. There was lots of wildlife to be seen too, notably chipmunks and squirrels, woodpeckers, robins and many other birds.We went to the park for a while, then to the leisure centre and into the pool, where we played in the water jets and swam around, careful to avoid the sharks. I wanted to go on the big slide with Carlie, but it turned out she had already been on it with Grandma and was scared of it, so I had to go on it by myself - a number of times.In the afternoon, after eating a vegetarian tortilla, full of hommous, peppers and tomatoes, at Windy Saddles, Carlie and I went to the library, where we read books for a while and played games. We returned to the hotel, as we had to wash Carlie's hair ( which she dislikes ).At 6pm we went over to Woody's Pizza Restaurant, where we met Momma, "Daddy-Kirk", his parents and my Mum for Carlie's birthday meal, where presents were exchanged and everyone tucked into big platefuls of food. Carlie as usual enjoyed being the star of the show, laughing and joking the whole time. After the meal, Carlie and I were again reminded to wrap up well if we went out the following day. We left the restaurant and crossed the street to the hotel, comfortable in the warm darkness. Would it really be that bad? Posted by Ben at 13:22 No comments: Thursday, 18 March 2010 Golden At 10pm on St Patricks Day, Carlie's mum dropped her off at the Table Mountain Inn, my hotel, along with my own mum. The bright sunshine allayed any fears of harsh weather. We went back into the hotel, where Carlie helped me finish eating a Santa Fe Benedict. It was as if we'd never been apart.After leaving Mr Beak to guard the hotel room, he three of us went out into the quiet main street of Golden, to explore. The Western styling of the buildings in and around the road were complemented by the horseshoe of mountains, which all around jutted into the bright sky.The centre of downtown Golden is
