Pimsleur

This is an excellent course. I'd recommend starting with this as it's really well done and will quickly build confidence in speaking. There are currently two levels available with a third due to be released some time this year.

I know it seems expensive but if you compare it to the price of private lessons or a class (yes, I really would rate it as good) it's a bargain plus you can sell it back to the store you originally bought it from! Get the CD version then stick it on your MP3 player.

Rosetta Stone

This is also an excellent course, though it works very differently to Pimsleur. It runs on either Mac or Windows and 
introduces an innovative and intuitive way to learn Hebrew offering excellent comprehension skills. Three levels are now 
available and all have been updated the much improved version 3.

Again it may seem a bit pricey initially but Rosetta Stone offer a full money back guarantee for up to half a year.

Low-priced Hebrew Learning Products


100 First Songs

If you only ever buy one product to help you learn Hebrew then this is the book (and 2 CDs) to get. 
These nursery rhymes are well produced and the combination of music and words is one of the best ways to easily learn a language. 
The book contains all the lyrics in Hebrew with vowels. There is no transliteration or translation so you'll need to already know the aleph-bet and have a good dictionary to translate.

The book and CDs can be bought in most bookshops in Israel. Unfortunately I have been unable to find an online site that sells it. If you know where it can be bought online then please email me recommendations [at] learnmodernhebrew [dot] com




Colloquial Hebrew

A very good book and CD set. This could be used alone but I used it to accompany the Pimsleur and Rosetta courses which I 
think works very well. This will help you most on reading and writing hebrew.

A Step by Step Guide to Modern Hebrew

This book really helps those who already have a basic working knowledge of Hebrew to polish their understanding of verbs. The book provides practice of each of the seven binyanim showing how each verb congugation is made from the root/infinitive of the verb.
