It gathers under one roof, public, private and people sector stakeholders engaged in seeking solutions to poverty housing issues. The next Forum, the fourth, will be held in Manila from 2-4 October 2013 with the theme “Housing as a Foundation for Breaking the Poverty Cycle.” The Forum is of interest to all stakeholders engaged in providing poverty housing solutions. They include policy-makers, urban planners, architects, academics, housing sector developers, NGOs, donor agencies, international organizations, researchers, and private and public sector players. Since inception, the event has brought together over 1,400 stakeholders from 52 countries. Jejomar Binay Alicia Bala Dr. Liu Thai Ker Henry Cisneros Keynote Speaker: Jejomar Binay is the Vice President of the Philippines and the chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC). He was a Mayor of Makati City before he was elected as Vice President. As a mayor, he presided over the phenomenal growth of Makati city, steering the once backward municipality into a vibrant and modern metropolis over the span of 20 years. Under his governance, the people of Makati shared in the fruits of economic progress through groundbreaking programs in education, health and social welfare. As Chairman of the HUDCC, he oversees the key programs and projects of the council to: secure tenure, housing finance, capability building, housing regulations, special projects and homeowners protection. More speakers here Plenary Speaker: Ms Alicia Dela Rosa Bala became Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) in September 2012. She oversees the implementation of projects under ASCC that focus on forging a common identity and building a caring and sharing society. Ms Dela Rosa Bala has more than 35 years of experience with the Philippines government’s Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). As Undersecretary of DSWD from 2005 to 2012, she led the policy and programs group and was director of a World Bank-funded social protection program for poor households.
