THE CARRG AND UWCRECEIVERSHIPSThis site presents general information and court filings regarding thereceiverships of Capital Assurance Risk Retention Group ("CARRG") and the UltimateWarranty Corporation, Ultimate Warranty of Wisconsin, Inc., Ultimate Warranty of Ohio, Inc., d.b.a. Ultimate Warranty of Arizona, and Extended Auto Warranty Corporation (collectively "UWC"). This ‘front page’ presents verygeneral information. More detailed information is presented through indexes todocuments. Links to these indexes regarding general documents and filings madein courts in relation to these receiverships are provided further below.General BackgroundOn October 31, 2007, the Richland County Court of Common Pleas, Columbia, South Carolina(the "Receivership Court") issued an order placing CARRG into receivership for rehabilitation. The Director of Insurance of the State of South Carolinawas appointed Receiver for CARRG (the "CARRG Receiver"). The current Deputy Receiver appointed by the CARRG Receiver to manage the day-to-day administration of CARRG is James M. Young. The CARRG Receivership Order was sought and entered because thefinancial condition of its primary insured UWC, had impacted CARRG such that any further transactionof its business would have been hazardous to the public. At that time,UWC had 144,393 active vehicle service contracts ("VSCs") most of which were insured by CARRG. Among the most significant actions taken by the CARRG Receiver early in the CARRGReceivership, was initiation of a lawsuit against UWC in the United States District Court forthe Northern District of Ohio (the "U.S. District Court"). On April 29, 2008, the U. S. District Court issued an order placing UWC into receivership and appointing Douglas A. Hartz as Receiver of UWC.This UWC Receivership Order was sought and entered because of thefinancial condition of UWC and to support the CARRG Receiver's efforts to protect theconsumers that have unexpired UWC VSC's ("VSC Holders") to the greatest extent possible. Among other things, this allowed the CARRG Receiver to handle the obligations tothe VSC Holders (which CARRG had insured) in a more orderly fashion. On November 15, 2012,the UWC Receiveership was closed and by order of the U. S. District Court, all remaining assets of UWC were transferred to the CARRG Receivership.Overview of CurrentStatusOn August 25, 2008, the CARRG Receiver obtained Receivership Court approval of a Rehabilitation Plan. Since that time, the CARRG Receiver has been carrying out and operatingunder the terms of the Rehabilitation Plan. During the course of th CARRG Receivership and the UWC Receivership, both Receivers pursued the collection of assets of CARRG and UWC. Most of the asssets identified by the Receivers have been recovered.One of the key considerations underlying the Rehabilitation Plan was the finding that the interests of the VSC Holders were best served by the CARRG Receiver working to get the dealersand other sellers th
