Ongoing development ensures the programme’s longevity.UAS Center of CompetenceUnmanned aerial systems are a key growth area for most air forces. Being highly specialized, however, these systems are used in small fleets and with a low degree of standardisation. Cassidian has therefore developed a concept that optimizes operations, mission planning, logistics, training, data links and payloads that can be used by various systems, thus cutting fleet and operational costs.UAS operationsWith the Luftwaffe, Cassidian has entered a very successful public-private partnership to operate unmanned aerial systems for surveillance and reconnaissance in the Afghan theatre. The partnership is ongoing. It has been set up in record time and with impressive results, both in terms of system availability and the efficient use of ressources.UAS DevelopmentSince 2003, Casidian has developed a partly industry-funded UAV system demonstrator platform to simulate and demonstrate highly complex mission scenarios.
