Hope For Childhood Cancer As (Clwcf) Launches N20 Million Medical Equipment.
Following the modern medical success stories of the treatment of childhood cancer,
CHILDREN LIVING WITH CANCER FOUNDATION (CLWCF)
a Non Governmental Organisation with offices in London and Nigeria will be launching a N
20 Million Medical Equipment at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
The medical equipment when acquired, according to the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation DR.
(MRS) NNEKA NWOBBI will be used for early dictation and treatment of childhood cancer. The event, which has the
Deputy Governor of Lagos State MR. FEMI PEDRO as the Chief Host is being packaged by FREON COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY
(an event management and image promotion organisation).
Art Competition/Gala Night
Speaking with the General manager of FREON, MR. TONY-MIKE EDOZIE, he stress that his organisation has a tradition of organising charity fund raising concert
for non governmental organisations every year, the recent being the #500 Million research centre for sickle cell
foundation, which was organised in 2004 at the Nimbus Art Galleria. This years event that has the support of the
Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr Femi Pedro and many corporate organisations, being packaged as an ART COMPETITION/GALA NIGHT.
Secondary school and primary schools in Lagos State have being invited to participate by way of donating their artworks for
exhibiting for the competition. The art works will be auctioned at the Gala night, he emphasized that childhood cancer though;
a deadly disease, today there is great hope, about 75% cure for the disease is visible, current research by the U.S.
and five Scandinavian countries in (July 2001) published at the Journal of clinical oncology; stated that survivors
of childhood cancer have an eleven times higher mortality rate than the general population, he call on organisation
and cooperate bodies to sponsor this event which is aimed at creating awareness of childhood cancer, early detection
and treatment. The event, which is slated to hold on, 24th Nov. 2006.
The Organisers are extending invitation letter to Ivy College, Vivian Fowler, Wisdom Gate high School and lots of schools
within Lagos to participate actively. We also hope that Christ Embassy, House-hold of God Church; and lots of Religious
Organisation will contribute to the success of this event. A visit to LUTH confirmed that many children living with cancer
are now given a sigh of relieve. We hope to bring you more report as the programme unfolds.
