The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) in Chemistry is an Advance Level Exam offered to Caribbean students after they would have completed their CSEC ‘O’ Level Examinations. It's not compulsory, but nevertheless offers an excellent foundation to college chemistry if one is thinking of pursuing their studies in chemistry and the chemical sciences. It is important to note that it is the equivalent to the UK’s A-Level (such as EdExcel and AQA) and USA's AP examinations. PURPOSE OF CXCCHEMISTRY.COM This website provides chemistry revision notes and past paper solutions (not as yet) for Caribbean students pursuing unit one and unit two of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) chemistry course. As a CAPE student I was at a disadvantage in that (i) resources were not sufficiently available and (ii) guidance on CAPE was not readily given. In my opinon, there should be persons to guide students in choosing units properly based on the recommended CAPE cluster or otherwise. For me, the major problem with the CAPE chemistry unit one exam was the unavailability of enough resources on practice problems and notes. It's extremely important that you familiarize yourself with the content by practicing problems and one of the objectives of the site is to assist in this regard. There are a number of A-Level textbooks that deals a lot with the content (more or less) such as Chemistry In Context. Fortunately, I have access to a copy of Jim Clark’s chemistry calculations which I feel is tremendously helpful in getting the calculations sorted out. I have, personally, developed as a chemistry student now that I’m at University, but having had the predisposition of CAPE Chemistry, I’m able to firmly grasp the concepts being taught. What I find to be helpful is the excellent tutorial sessions done by the lectures, especially Dr. Raymond Jagessar, Mr. Orson La Rose, Mr. Raphael Singh. I think i have been fortunate enough to have really wonderful lecturers; who make chemistry appear to be fun and exiting. I can honestly say i'm never bored in a chemistry. In retrospect, however, i cannot thank them enough for putting up with all my questions.
