I’ll keep this one short and sweet though. I’m fairly late to the game on this one but Sencha has created a contest to build an app using their framework and HTML5 that can be used as a replacement for default mobile apps such as Calculator or Stocks. The full details can be found on the contest page but there are over $20k in prizes to the top three finishers. The contest ends February 15th though, so if you plan to enter and have not started yet, like me, you had best get a move on!from → General WebSecond Place in Mozilla Dev Derby2011 November 1Leave a commentby DaveA project of mine called INeedA… placed second in the September Mozilla Dev Derby! Each month, Mozilla holds a contest for people to submit web apps based around a specific technology, with prizes going to the top three entries chosen by a panel of judges. The particular contest revolved around geolocation, and I created an app that will help you find certain places around you, such as ATM’s, Bar’s, Hospitals, etc… It uses the jQuery mobile framework for display, and the Google places API to find the places. It then lists address info, and ratings as well as marks places on a map and upon selecting a specific place you will be given a map with directions and a link to easily call that place. This project is optimized for mobile and desktop using css media queries. Here is a link to the contest results, check it out:https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/demos/devderby/2011/september/from → ProjectsNew Project: Slideshow2011 September 24Leave a commentby DaveA slideshow project has been added, drag pictures from your computer into the box and order them however you like, then set the interval time and click play to watch the slideshow. The framework is really slick, and includes sliding transitions from page to page, and loading of content through ajax to better simulate a native app experience – and it all happens automatically! All you really need to do is add a few custom attributes to your html elements, such as data-role=”page” for the outer containing page, and data-role=”header”, data-role=”content”, data-role=”footer” for the different sections of the page. Then it’s just a matter of filling in the content and using their already styled listviews, or buttons wh
