I’m getting so good now that I can tell one of my client’s styles from another in a lot of instances.Maybe that makes me a photography geek of sorts, I don’t know?However, when I took Sarah Jewel Photography on as a client I noticed something very unique in her style. All of my clients really put their heart and soul into their work, that is for sure, but there is something, just…different about Sarah and her partner Richard’s work.Her tag line is “I shoot from the heart…to capture theirs” and her pictures definitely do just that.At first I thought it was the settings that wedding photography on the Isle of Man offer, but it wasn’t that. I have other clients in the Cotswolds and deepest Kent that have just as amazing natural canvasses to work with.So, what does set her apart?The bottom line is I just still don’t know. If you look at the pictures on each section of her website a few things will stand out. For example on the children’s page the way the child’s eyes stand out, even in the black and white pictures is stunning. You’re totally “drawn into” the picture by the eyes.If you look at the wedding pictures, the natural expresssions that Sarah manages to capture just speak volumes. You can see, almost feel, the love in some of the picures. Yes, doing wedding photography on the Isle of Man does lead to some great and unusual settings. I particularly like the couple with the horse that has just bumped into them. It is an amazing capture. taken at just the completely right split second. The image just says everything about how the couple feelabout each other…and the horse as well. It’s emotionally charged but it makes you smile at the same time.And, I always think the acid test of a good image (be that photographic or art) is that it arouses emotions (of some sort) in the person looking at the picture.And, check out the newborn baby wrapped in a small blanket asleep on the bed. At the most basic level, this brings out incredible emotions. That in built need to parent and the love of a new infant child.
