Jenna Shea started the very first Pilates studio on Staten Island back in 2002, she named it “The Willow”; they represent the strength, stability and structure of the trunk; standing firm and withstanding the greatest of challenges.
She wanted to offer adults a studio that allowed them to train and learn about intelligent exercise routines the way our children do at karate or dance studios. Adults often feel out of place studying in studios that cater to kids so we provide a safe place for adults to practice their own fitness classes.
Ms. Shea found herself overwhelmed with students and lack of educated Pilates instructors on Staten Island. So The Willow became the very first PMA Approved Comprehensive Teacher Training organizations on Staten Island and has educated dozens of Staten Islanders. She created a Divine Alignment a study that incorporates the balance of core strengthening of Pilates with grace and strong roots of alignment of Anusara yoga.
The Willow has grown dramatically over the last 10+ years, we offer many classes for a variety of students who are eager to come in and work on their health and fitness! With the help of the staff we have built up a fantastic loyal clientele. We have grown tremendously with the new trends, trying new classes and are happy to offer what we can to tend to adult fitness needs.
