This site is in response to many people asking me about 5G technologies and how they will be affected by the Radio Frequencies associeted with the installation of a large MIMO network and how (if) they can protect themselves / shield against this non-ionising radiation. To put things into context, this site gives a brief overview of 5G technologies - the "what, why and how". In addittion to this, it will give an overview of RF theory, and exposure of individuals when in proximity to 5G installations. Information presented is based on science, not on the plethora of "alternative" theories that rely on the use of crystals or the like to "shield/protect" against RF. This site will also refer to some other RF technoligies that may be of interest, as a direct response to questions. Eg ADS-B. × 5G Overview 5G (5th generation) systems are the next major step after 4G, with significant bandwidth and performance icreases. Several bands will be used, the main ones being "millimeter wave bands" of 26, 28, 38, and 60 GHz. Other bands are also being trialled, between 600Mhz and 6Ghz. 5G systems will dramatically improve connectivity whilst on the move, allow for the anticipated surge in numbers of connected devices "internet of things" (from household appliances, to your car, to industrial automation nodes etc) whilst also reducing latency. Revolutionising networks using Software Defined Networks, improving security by integrating security as an intrinsic element of network system design. What does it mean for you? Faster, more reliable, more secure, easier. High bandwidth network everywhere* (in 5G enabled zones - which will spread as the tec matures/is deployed further). What will it look like? You will notice nothing new with enabled devices (unless you open then up). However, there will be a large network of closely spaced 5G antennae installed in 5G areas. Due to limitations in the reach of the 5G signal, the antennae are numerous, and close to the ground (eg on lamp posts, as well as dedicated towers etc). Spacing will be close - if you are standing next to an antenna, you will be able to see the next one(s). RF Comms Overview This site is currently under construction.
