Goodbye 2014.  Thanks for the Memories and Hello 2015!
Time marches on. As we transition from one year to the next, few of us pause to "take stock" of what we accomplished in our personal and professional lives during the past year.
Was 2014 a good year for you and your company? What did you do? Did you take one of those trips on your bucket list? Did you add a new category to your equipment inventory? Did you re-organize your sock drawer or re-do your firm's route software system? Did you drop a dress size or a few underperforming locations?
Surely, we need to focus on the future and not live in the past, but I find it both interesting and useful to conduct a "Year-In-Review." It helps us assess whether or not we're moving in the right direction...or any direction at all.
So, here's some of the highlights of AMOA's year in 2014:
1. New Expo Format. The schedule that made its debut in 2014 included a full day of education and two full days of exhibits. Overall, the change was warmly embraced.
2. Save the Rack Promotion. Working with Championship Billiards, AMOA developed a "pink pool table" kit that provided a unique promotional partnership with locations and offered a tremendous opportunity for operators to show their community involvement.
3. AMOA Mobile App. AMOA's Class of 2016 Directors spearheaded the development of a new mobile app for members and others to easily and quickly access information about the association's programs, services and events.
4. State Association Rebate. During the year, AMOA re-installed its state association rebate program, with a new twist. Basically, AMOA offers state groups $25 for every one of its operator members who is also a member of AMOA, AND if the state association is represented at the annual Council of Affiliated States meeting--which it should be!--the rebate is doubled to $50 per member.
5. Opposing Changes to Metal Content of Coinage. During 2014, AMOA met with representatives of the U.S. Mint; led a letter-writing campaign by member constituents; conducted a webinar on the topic; co-founded the "Don't Change Our Change" coalition; contributed to a fact-based study to document the economic hardship changes to coinage would create; and helped organize a member Fly-In to Washington, D.C. with the sole purpose to express the i
