LEARN MORE > RSS WHAT'S NEW June 27, 2013 NCAVP learns of intimate partner violence homicide of a gay man, Christopher Clingan, in San Antonio, TexasThe National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) has learned of the intimate partner violence homicide of a gay man, Christopher Clingan, 22, in San Antonio, Texas. According to a local media source, relatives of Clingan say that he was in the process of breaking up with his boyfriend, Antonio Onorato, 20, in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 16th, when Onorato stabbed him multiple times. This media report also states that Bexar County Sheriffs Deputies arrested Onorato and charged him with murder. June 25, 2013 AVP denounces hate violence incident in South Ozone Park, Queens; Working with community to prevent future violenceAVP has received reports that on Sunday, June 23, 2013, two survivors were attacked by a group of people in front of Players Restaurant and Bar in South Ozone Park in Queens and were hit in the head with a trophy from the restaurant. According to multiple community members who contacted AVP via e-mail and social media, several people verbally and physically attacked the two survivors, and verbally attacked other LGBT people in front of the restaurant. Community members also tell AVP that one of the survivors was hit so hard with the trophy it created a large laceration on his forehead and he was taking to Long Island Jewish hospital where he received several staples.
