Home | About the Forum | Publications | Help Search Welcome to America's Children: Key National Indicators of Well-Being This year, the Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics (the Forum) published, America's Children in Brief: Key National Indicators of Well-Being, 2018. This year's report highlights the following 6 measures on children and youth who face special and heightened risks to their well-being: 1) poverty and extreme poverty, 2) health insurance continuity, 3) homelessness, 4) exposure to violence, 5) prescription opioid misuse and use disorders, and 6) residential placement of juveniles. A working group of 23 Federal agencies, the Forum fosters coordination, collaboration, and integration of Federal efforts to collect, analyze, and report data on conditions and trends related to child and family well-being. As usual, America's Children provides the most recent statistics on children and families in the United States across 41 report indicators, covering a range of domains: family and social environment, economic circumstances, health care, physical environment and safety, behavior, education, and health. What's New The Forum welcomes Forum Principal, Nancy Potok, our new U.S. Chief Statistician in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Nancy shares her enthusiasm and commitment to the America's Children publication and the collaborative efforts of our Forum agencies in this year's report Foreword. We are excited to work with Nancy on many exciting and innovative projects ahead. The Forum also wishes the very best to longtime Forum Principal, Katherine K. Wallman, who retired as U.S. Chief Statistician (OMB) on January 3, 2017. The Forum convened its spring meeting in tribute to Katherine and they dedicate this year's America's Children report to her for her role as a Forum champion.
