Cormorant Lakes Watershed District -- Water resource Stewardship Cormorant Watershed About UsManagement RulesWatershed Map Meeting Minutes Permit Info & Form Links and Information The Cormorant Lakes Watershed District (CLWD) was established to protect and enhance the quality of waters within its jurisdiction, and to ensure that appropriate decisions are made concerning management of streams, wetlands, lakes, groundwater and related land resources that impact these waters. On this site you will see information about our activities and projects, contact information, permit forms, meeting minutes, and information about our activities and projects. Meeting Times: Monthly meetings are on the first Monday of each month, except on Federal holidays, in which case the meeting is on the following Tuesday. Regular meetings are held in the Cormorant Community Center and start at 7:00 PM. As needed, a mid-month meeting may be held on the 3rd Monday of the month. Contact the Administrator or President for specifics. Special meetings, such as hearings, are announced in the Detroit Lakes paper and are posted at the Community Center. Clean Water Fund Project In 2008 Minnesota voters approved the Clean Water, Land & Legacy Amendment to "protect drinking water sources; protect, enhance, and restore wetlands, prairies, forests, and fish, game, and wildlife habitat; preserve arts and cultural heritage; support parks and trails; and protect, enhance, and restore lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater." Working with our Houston Engineering District Engineer, the CLWD received a project grant to mitigate erosion on and sedimentation from our shorelands and upland areas. The current status provided by the District Engineer in March, 2015 shows significant improvements completed and pending, as follows: Big Cormorant (Berg parcel) Erosion Slide Repair - Completed. Binde Water and Sediment Control Basins -Completed.. West Alpine Lane Bijou Lake Site - Project design is complete, and construction will begin in the spring of 2015. Bijou Access Erosion - Project being designed by the Becker SWCD, funded jointly by the grant allocation. Becker SWCD reports that the survey is done, with final design and implementation to start in the spring of 2015. Nielsen waterway - Project has been discussed with the landowner, the survey is complete, and the design is to be completed this spring. Krogen waterway - Project has been discussed with the landowner, the survey is complete, and the design is to be completed this spring. Schroeder waterway - Project was field reviewed, Memo to CLWD and landowner was prepared. Will not be taken further under this grant. 150th Avenue Erosion - Project was field reviewed, Memo to CLWD was prepared. Site has been surveyed with design and potentially construction in 2015. Deer Point Condos Shoreline Erosion - Project was field reviewed by Becker SWCD, planting plan has been prepared by Marsha Watland, Grant funding has been authorized
