A Review of Trials Fusion

I’ll start this review off by saying I was actually really wrong about this game when I first bought it, though that was ultimately a good thing. Whatever review I read basically made this title out to be a racing game and little more. But calling Trials Fusion a racing game would be like doing the same for the Mario Kart franchise. While racing is definitely involved, there are so many other aspects at play, that you’ll have your hands full with what to do. That being said, if you really like racing games, you’ll still have plenty to enjoy with this title. At the end of the day, you’ll get your white knuckle fix just fine.
The first thing you’ll notice about this supposed racing game is that you’re on a bike. Not since Paperboy can I remember a title that put the main character on top of a bicycle and hoped for players to have a blast. But Trials Fusion makes it seem like a rollercoaster ride. Plus, relax, it’s actually a dirt bike.
Also, it’s not that you’re really racing either. It’s more that the mechanics of the game have you riding your dirt bike at breakneck speeds in order to stay alive and make it to the next challenge directly ahead of you.
Trials Fusion is a lot like the Tony Hawk franchise in that your player is allowed to do all kinds of stuff that would just be impossible in real life. The laws of physics would now be cool with a dirt bike racing up the side of a building at a 90 degree angle. But then, if you couldn’t do that, how else would your dirt bike then be able to launch off said building before hitting a ramp below?
The city your riding through is also designed to give you as much fun as possible on your dirt bike. This means the aforementioned ramps, floating platforms and more, all of which keep you on your toes.
Also like Tony Hawk is the addition of all kinds of tricks you can do. So even after you beat a track, you’ll want to go back and add in as many tricks as possible to push yourself further. Plus, to be honest, if you don’t, some tracks will just become boring for you to work through over and over.
Nonetheless, if you like games that involve you and a motor, Trials Fusion is an easy one to recommend.
