We commit to be actively engaged in learning, respect our learning environment and the learning process of others. Latest News Volcanoes and Oceania “Our aim is not merely to make the child understand, and still less to force him to memorize, but to touch his imagination as to enthuse him to his innermost core.” – Maria Montessori Gateway students in the 2nd grade have been learning and researching various volcanoes. Students wrote reports about a volcano of their choice and then presented them to the class. The culminating project was to make a volcano out of salt dough and then make it “erupt”. Students had a wonderful time bringing science to life. Students in Mrs. Dodds’ class have been learning about Oceania. They have created a Great Barrier Reef and have made jellyfish, clown fish and coral. Students have been learning about all the unique animals in Australia and New Zealand. They have also been learning games that Aborigine children played.
