The Chinese and the Japanese were among the earliest peoplesto use their intensely hot springs for therapeutic purposes.
Native Americans treated illness with the use of hot vapor baths.
During the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Aulus Cornelius Celsus described prevailing medical procedures and ideas regarding fever and heat. (42 BCE - 37 CE)
