The OCCAC is made of eight Community Colleges in Ohio. The Ohio Community College promotes and fosters community college intercollegiate athletics for men and women on the state level. OCCAC News Archives Sunday, October 9 Cincinnati State Men's Soccer Wins 7th Conference Title in Nine Years. Adding to the long list of accomplishments over the years, the Cincinnati State Surge men's soccer team clinched the OCCAC regular season conference title with a 3-0 road win over Owens Community College. Freshmen Jake Brooks, Evan Rees and Nick Merhaut each recorded a goal in the victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Ben Steinnecker recorded his first clean sheet of the season. So far, it has been a phenominal week for Brooks who now has 5 goals over the past two games. With the stellar offensive output, Brooks is currently the top goal scorer in NJCAA Region XII. For head coach Mike Combs and the Cincinnati State soccer program, this marks the seventh conference title in the past nine seasons. "We have really had a great run in recent years," Mike Combs said. "This is the first accomplishment of what we hope will end up being a very successful 2011 campaign." The Surge will finish up a road trip against at Tiffin University this Sunday. Cincinnati State will play their last home stand of the year against Cuyahoga CC next Saturday at Xavier University followed by a game against Lakeland CC at Anderson High School on Sunday, October 16th. Both games will begin at 2pm. Saturday, October 8 Owens Express Men's Soccer Drops Tough Match to Cincinnati State The Owens Express men's soccer team lost a crucial Region XII matchup to Cincinnati State today by a score of 3-0 at home. The match was scoreless at halftime as each team had plenty of chances to score. The match swung in favor of Cincinnati State when the Express had a scoring chance just over 57 minutes into the match. As they pushed the ball up, a Cincinnati State defender stole the ball and moved down the field and put one in the net at the 57:40 mark to take a 1-0 lead. From there, Cincinnati State capitalized on the momentum and scored two more goals at the 66:06 and 85:22 marks. Owens had a chance to vault into a second place tie in the Region XII standings with Cincinnati State had they won today. The match was even in terms of shots on goal as each team had 15.
