Summer lingers here
Like a school starting late
The sun slants a  little lower
the mornings a  little cooler
But the days just as warm
The green leaves hanging on
Enjoying these last few weeks
Like a band putting on a third encore
Even though the crowd has thinned
The concession stand closed
And the drummer is stifling a yawn.
