George and Rosie Simple and unassuming. Don't expect too much. But somehow it works. Home About Food Calendar Photo Gallery Links FAQ Contact It all started in 1988... Lured to a Bear's (Lee and Lois) Steakhouse and Lounge in West Branch, IA. by Patty (Lacina), George met Rosie after a full day at University Hospital School at the University of Iowa and an evening at Sear's Customer Service. She was done with her job at Hayek Law Office in Iowa City and wasn't working that night at Paul Revere's Pizza (Tom and Nancy Mueller). As he walked into the room he heard a distant voice..."I know you....", he heard. "You're that forbidden text from Eldora!" Yup, that was George. She was from Steamboat, Rock, about 5 miles away. Turns out they grew up next to each other, graduated from (different) High School(s) the same year (1969) and migrated to Iowa City the same year (1969). A couple of introductory beverages at Bear's then off to the PI for another (or two) and a lot of conversation from George with very little from Rosie. The evening ended. (I don't even remember how she got home.) A year later she answered his phone call to go out on New Year's Eve and the rest is history; the most memorable not being a micro waved Easter ham the same year.
