VISION OF SUNFED The
Federation SUNFED shall be recognized nationally and internationally as the
representative of all NGOs on Saint Martin (Dutch side). The Federation will be
the leader in providing quality, consistent and unbiased service to all
segments of society. This shall be achieved by:
a. Uniting all NGOs in one platform to
simulate cooperation within the NGO sectors, inventorying the needs of the NGOs
and address those needs, structuring the NGO field into an effective and
coherent system, assisting the NGOs to maximize their development
b. Identifying the areas of funding
priorities, developing an NGO Multi-Annual Policy Plan, to be revised when necessary,
coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the implementation of the approved NGO
Multi Annual Policy Plan, working in conjunction with the Government of St. Maarten
in developing Multi-Annual Social Development Policy Plan, coordinating, monitoring,
and evaluating the organizational functioning of the approved NGO sectors, Nomination and appointing two representatives
to the Supervisory Board of the NGOs
THE FEDERATION
The vision of the above is predicated on
the belief the:
a. NGOs play
a unique and valuable role in meeting the needs of society
b. NGOs have
the right to solicit funds in pursuit of their individual missions
c. Funding
agencies have the right to choose how they will allocate their funds and expect
that NGOs will conduct themselves in an
accountable, ethical and effective manner;
d. The
responsible action of the NGO and the funding organizations will sustain and
enhance the climate for charitable giving.
THE MISSION OF SUNFED
The mission of the Federation is to provide
an environment in which funding agencies will provide the necessary financial assistance
to allow socio-economic policies and programs to be developed and implemented. This
shall be accomplished by:
a. Providing
and receiving information to and from the various NGOs that will assist them in
securing funding:
b.
Encouraging social development programs:
c.
Encouraging accountability in the NGOs by applying accountability standards;
d. Working
encloses collaboration with the Government for total synchronization or policy
development:
e.
Communicating the overall results to all parties involved.
