This server provides the following test tools: HTTP Downloads FTP uploads and downloads Traceroute route determination tool IPerf network performance testing tool HTTP downloads 32 MB Test File 64 MB Test File 128 MB Test File 256 MB Test File 512 MB Test File 1024 MB Test File TRACEROUTE Using the traceroute tool, you can view traceroute results from the test server to any publicly accessible network address. Follow the traceroute link and enter the IP address of the target in the "Host" box and press the "Go" button. Traceroute FTP FTP is available on port 21. Please use the username "anonymous" when connecting to the FTP service. You are not required to enter a password. In the FTP /pub directory, you will find several test files that you can download and re-upload to test network throughput speeds. When re-uploading files you may want to create a new directory with the "mkdir" command, then upload the files to that directory. In order to protect the privacy of our customers, you are not permitted to download files that are uploaded to the FTP server. Uploaded files are only readable by Rackspace staff and are automatically deleted after 7 days. Please do not upload copyrighted or sensitive data. We have experienced connectivity issues with the Microsoft command line FTP client included in many versions of windows. The Microsoft FTP client does not support 'passive ftp', which may cause connectivity issues in certain network configurations. We recommend that you use a FTP client other than Microsoft FTP when using the sandbox test server. Filezilla is a freely available ftp client for Windows. Filezilla is not associated with Rackspace Hosting and installing Filezilla on your computer is done at your own risk. Contents of ftp /pub: 32MB.test - 32MB file consisting of random data. 128MB.test - 128MB file consisting of random data. 256MB.test - 256MB file consisting of random data. 512MB.test - 512MB file consisting of random data. 1024MB.test - 1024MB file consisting of random data. IPerf IPerf was developed by NLANR/DAST as a modern alternative for measuring maximum TCP and UDP bandwidth performance. Iperf allows the tuning of various parameters and UDP characteristics. Iperf reports bandwidth, delay jitter, datagram loss. The IPerf service is listening on port 20000 for both UDP and TCP connections. You can test download speeds from the sandbox server to a client machine by installing IPerf (http://dast.nlanr.net/Projects/Iperf/) on the client machine, then executing iperf with appropriate arguments, including the following arguments specifying the server: "-c sandbox.iad1.rackspace.net -p 20000" Example IPerf tests IPerf test of a singl
