Mission Statement We, the members of the Vero Beach Police Department, are committed to providing professional police service through a partnership with the community which promotes the highest quality of life and a sense of trust and safety for all residents, businesses and visitors. Accreditation An accreditation program has long been recognized as a means of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Accreditation is the certification by an independent reviewing authority that an entity has met specific requirements and prescribed standards. The Vero Beach Police Department has been accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) since February of 2002. The initial accreditation is valid for three years and we have completed the reaccreditation process in 2005, 2008 and 2011. We are scheduled for reaccreditation again in 2014. Important Information The Vero Beach Police Department has estimated that approximately thirty percent of their non- emergency calls for police assistance originate from outside the city limits. Many of these calls are from callers who are unfamiliar with the Vero Beach City Limits. Many of our customers have a Vero Beach address and receive service from the Vero Beach Utilities; however they reside in Indian River County. If you pay property taxes to the City of Beach, you are resident of the City of Vero Beach. If you pay property taxes to Indian River County, you are a resident of Indian River County. To ensure prompt law enforcement, fire, and E.M.S. assistance, the following numbers are provided: All callers may call 911 for all police, fire, and ambulance EMERGENCIES. About the City The City was originally incorporated in 1919 as the City of Vero. In 1925, the City of Vero was re-incorporated as t
