I'm shutting the station down. I've gotten several emails from listeners and thought a special email address should be created to make sure that those emails do not get lost in the shuffle. The email address is remember@9412.com This is not a "unless $X is raised" situation. It's real. It has not been a easy decision to make. I've thought long and hard about this for the last year, but wanted to reach the 10 year anniversary. 10 years of broadcasting online is not an easy feat, given the difficulties presented to webcasters concerning licenses, royalties, etc. At our high point, we had over 1200 streams being used at the same time which is approx 3000 listeners tuned in. No advertising on television or print was able to get those listeners. It was because of word of mouth, great DJs and a commitment to the music and not ego. Lots of DJs have graced the airwaves at 9412 since 2002. I thank them all for their hard work and dedication to making one guys dream a reality. It's a real thrill to get a call from a listener at 2 in the morning telling me that they love 9412. It's an even bigger thrill when that listener is in New Zealand. I've gotten similar calls from Canada, Mexico, Japan, Norway, Great Brittan and Australia. 9412 reached people. It was not just some geek playing music from his parent's music collection but a sharing of a love of music that transcended borders, languages and faiths. It didn't matter that you were Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Wiccan, Atheist or Agnostic - when you heard the first few bars of "Layla", you were one and the same. What will it take to get 9412 back? Probably something so incredible that I can't even think of what it would be. The website will stay up for a long time. I will NOT be selling the domain name, the logo or the station name. If anyone uses the 9412 logo, 9412 - The Rock Station, etc. then they will be in violation of copyright because they don't own that identity. Besides, I don't want someone posing as me out there and then I get bills for their licenses. Thanks everyone for all of your hard work. It's been fun. To answer several inquiries, selling of the station would be considered but merely giving it away would not be considered.
