FROM THE DESK OF PRINCIPAL, 
Nagaon which is rich in it is cultural heritage, is situated in the middle of Assam, and is particularly
famous for Batadraba as the birth place of "SRI MANTA SANKARDEV" Govt. Assam homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital,
which was the dream of a  band of dedicated homoeopaths had come into being on 15th August, 1968, is located just 16 KM
away from Batadraba.
In 1790, while translation Cullens Materia Medica, Hahnemann observed that it was noticed Cinchona can cured
Malaria due to its bitterness. He was not satisfied with this explanation. With various experiment he came into conclusion
that Chinchona can cure Malaria as it can produce similar symptoms in the healthy human being. In 1796 he published an 
article "An essay on a New Principles for Ascertaining The Curative Power of Drugs and Some Examinations of the Previous Principles".
Doctrines of Homoeopathy formulated first time in his article "Medicine  of Experience" in 1805.
Homoeopathy entered in India from Germany on 1839, Jhon Martin Hoeningberger treated Cholera patient with homoeopathic
Medicine at Bhabanipur of Kolkata. It is difficult to make comment when  homoeopathic system of medicine entered in Assam, probably
in early part of 19th century.
Central council of Homoeopathy was constituted by Government of India under the provision of Homoeopathy central council Act. of
Parliament in 1973, to formulate uniform curriculum and syllabus of studies in Homoeopathy for Degree, Diploma and PG courses. At present 
in India 184 homoeopathic Undergraduate College, 2 exclusive Post Graduate College, 31 Undergraduate college upgraded P.G Department 
for P.G Training, 7 P.G specialist, 35 Government Institution, 13000 admission capacity approximately in U.G Colleges, approximately 660 
admission capacity in P.G, 40 University conducting Undergraduate and Post Graduate Course.
It is great pleasure for the people of Assam that Government of Assam established Medical University namely 
Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Science to upgrade the quality of Medical Education and homoeopathic Medical Colleges 
conduct  B.H.M.S course under this university.
Recently District Level Committee successfully organised in our institution District Level Campaign on "Homoeopathy for Healthy Mother and
Happy Child" and three days District Level Training for homoeopathic Practitioners Sponsored by Central Council of Research in Homoeopathy, New Delhi,
in collaboration with National Rural Health Mission, Assam.
