Judge Patricia Wald, recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom Congratulations to Judge Patricia Wald who was recently named a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the government. Judge Wald, the former Chief Judge of the DC Circuit, was elected to The American Law Institute in 1973 and served on ALI's Council for 20 years. Now a Life Member of the ALI, she remains an active emeritus member of the Council. In this video interview, Judge Wald talks about winning a scholarship to Yale Law School in 1948, the difficulties of finding work as a young woman lawyer in that era, and her remarkable career, including posts in the Carter administration and her work on the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Featured Publications The Concise Restatement of Torts, Third Edition The new third edition of A Concise Restatement of Torts is a 398-page softcover volume compiled by Professor Ellen M. Bublick of the University of Arizona's James E. Rogers College of Law.
