MYRISTOL AND MYRISTOL PRO: 
JOINT AND MUSCLE  SUPPORT 
FOR EQUINE ATHLETES!
The Myristol products are  joint health products developed by equine veterinarian Dr. Gayle Trotter.  Dr. Trotter taught at the veterinary school  at Colorado State University (CSU) for many years.  He specialized in lameness and surgery, but  his research efforts were directed at many different aspects of joint  disease.   Over time, he became more  interested in potential preventive approaches to joint disease issues, rather  than relying solely on joint injections once problems were already present, or  surgery when more major problems developed.   It was from this clinical and research background that the Myristol  products were developed.  Although his  particular area of expertise involved horses, he also recognized the need for  joint health products for other animals as well as people.
In developing the  Myristol products, Dr. Trotter used a broad-spectrum or comprehensive  approach.  When joint health is adversely  affected, many mechanisms and chemical/biochemical reactions are activated  beyond simple inflammation.    Dr.  Trotter wanted to incorporate ingredients in Myristol that addressed this  diversity of abnormal activity taking place within the joint.  By incorporating the combination of cetyl  myristoleate fatty acid complex, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), glucosamine HCl,  and hydrolyzed collagen, a truly comprehensive product was created.  In addition to these  ingredients, Myristol contains high quality Vitamin C, copper, manganese and  zinc — all of which are important to joint health — in  dosages needed to  be effective. 
After Dr. Trotter left  CSU, Myristol was subjected to a controlled equine clinical trial and the  results were presented to the American Association of Equine Practitioners in  2007. The entire clinical study report can be read at the Myristol.com website,  but essentially it was found there was substantial improvement in lameness in  horses receiving Myristol when compared to a control or placebo group.
