New CHEERS to become a Full Service HERS ProviderThe CHEERS Registry has been acquired by ConSol Home Energy Efficiency Rating Services, Inc. (also to be known as CHEERS but for now “New CHEERS”). New CHEERS will soon be applying for CEC approval to become a full service HERS provider (i.e., will start accepting new projects and start training programs). New CHEERS management is working with CEC to ensure a smooth transition for all CHEERS customers. Until New CHEERS receives the approval of the CEC and becomes a full service HERS provider, the CHEERS Registry will continue to operate and function as it has been since October 2010 (per the CEC limitations). The existing rater agreements will be honored by New CHEERS during this interim period but New CHEERS intends to seek new rater agreements after it has received CEC approval. New CHEERS is expected to be a full service HERS provider by fall of 2012. For more details, see the FAQ or inquire at info@cheers.org. News - October 2010 CHEERS Decision to Stop Accepting New Projects Dear CHEERS Raters, CHEERS had decided to stop accepting new projects that are subject to California regulations effective as of midnight, October 4, 2010, in consultation with the California Energy Commission. CHEERS is taking this action because CHEERS is not in compliance with regulations for the CHEERS registry and database. CHEERS is aggressively working with new and more robust software developers on a fast track to improve both the CHEERS registry and database so that they are fully in compliance with the HERS regulations. The California Energy Commission will review and approve the registry and database before CHEERS will restart accepting new projects. CHEERS greatly appreciates the cooperation and assistance of the Energy Commission, whose staff is working diligently to support the HERS industry and have been actively working with CHEERS for several months to identify problems with CHEERS’ existing registry and reviewing efforts by CHEERS to make improvements. The Energy Commission will continue to work with CHEERS to help enable CHEERS to restart accepting new projects as expeditiously as possible. HERS raters expressed concerns that they had been working on projects prior to the October 4, 2010 that they would have submitted to CHEERS if they had known that CHEERS was going to stop
