SunwiseIndineroHoodoyouKlipNeedAbout me Recent work, 2010-2013 Sunwise An alarm clock that can be set to the dynamic cycles of sunrise and sunset. I thought about it as “a Rooster in your pocket.” It came from the pain of living in one of the more “light-deprived” parts of San Francisco. Personal project, 2013. Indinero I worked at Indinero for a brief period, and in that time worked on a few sections of the site. I redesigned the Transactions screen, and I also designed the new Budget feature. I provided a full redesign template for the CEO as well. Hoodoyou A venture I co-founded in 2012, meant to take on Angie’s List and Yelp. These details are from the “onboarding” set of screens. It later evolved into “Need” below. Klip I had the good fortune to work with Alain Rossmann, original Macintosh team member and probably one of the smartest guys I’ve ever met. I helped him work on his current project Klip, a video capture and consumption service. Need Venture I co-founded in 2012, as a way to share and recommend personal resources (like dogwalkers, child care, and contractors). About me Fortunate to have helped a few great startups get to where they needed to be. I have an irrespressable attention to detail and craft; I strive for the easiest, clearest possible experience for the audience I design for. If you’ve used LinkedIn, YouTube, or E*TRADE, then you’ve seen my work, in full or in part. A lot of that stuff is ancient history by now – but I’m still proud of it, and there are echos of my handiwork in each of them to this day. The time I spent at those companies also echo with me; I continue to try to solve the problems for others and myself using the tools I picked up along the way. On the presentation: Obviously, I need to have something up for when people inevitably ask, “Can we see your portfolio?” The reason I only show details is because I’ve found it nearly impossible to present my work, in all its breadth and depth, in any one all-encompassing format – it’s just too much stuff, too many variable sizes, some mobile, some web. How do I show a style guide in the same format as a logo exploration? I also feel that to just show screens without giving the context by which this work came about does it a disservice. I much prefer to present my work in person, and present work in context of what the client may be seeking. That said, if you’d like a link to some PDFs that show some of my work in greater detail, I’m happy to provide them upon request: mail@ches.net. Thanks for stopping by.
