Other persons interested in supporting the activities and services of the group may become Friends of CHMTA. CHMTA is affiliated with the North Carolina Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. CHMTA programs range from performances by members to presentations on various aspects of pedagogy and performance practice. In addition, CHMTA sponsors a number of services and activities each year, including: a teacher referral service, monthly student recitals, a festival of auditions, and special projects such as workshops and master classes.Active membership in CHMTA is open to active and retired teachers of music in any of its various branches. Members enjoy the privileges of participating in all activities of the group and may vote and hold office. All members of CHMTA are also members of North Carolina Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association.Student membership is open to any full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Student members may participate in all meetings and activities but may not hold office or vote.Senior membership is open to all individuals of 65 years of age or older who have been active past members of CHMTA/NCMTA/MTNA continuously for the past five years. Senior membership provides all privileges of active membership in the local association.Dues are:$15 active members (plus dues for NCMTA & MTNA)$10.00 student members (plus discounted dues for NCMTA & MTNA)$15.00 senior members (plus discounted dues for NCMTA & MTNA)For further information about membership, please contact our Membership Chairperson, Margery Gates, at 967-8350, or mixi@nc.rr.com.ADDITIONAL AFFILIATIONS WITH CHMTAFriends of CHMTA is a category open to individuals who are not currently teaching but wish to support CHMTA. While Friends may attend meetings and programs, they may not vote or hold office. A donation of a minimum of $15 is requested to become a Friend of CHMTA.Honorary affiliation may be awarded to persons who have made outstanding contributions to the profession of music teaching. Such membership carries the privilege of attending Association meetings but not the right to vote or hold office.Patrons of CHMTA are those individuals and/or businesses who wish to support the organization and advertise their services. Please contact the president if you are interested in advertising.
