CHI works to help people improve their lives and communities. We work with grassroots organizations in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tibet and support the development of private health and education enterprise in Afghanistan. Our role is to empower communities to help themselves. Our WorkMany people lack the basics of food, shelter, health care, employment and education. The lack of these life necessities robs people of their dignity, their self esteem and self-determination. In response to these needs, rather than providing short-term grants or limited impact charity work, CHI supports local grassroots organizations helping them respond with local solutions.We invest locally in community action that builds education and health resources, training people to support these systems so they can continue in the future. In the process, people's self confidence is restored and they develop the expertise to maintain self supporting projects. Whether CHI is supporting: teacher and nurse training in Afghanistan, education for girls in Pakistan or working with the Bon community in Tibet, our aim is the same - to bring hope and constructive help to local people so they can direct efforts to rebuild their lives and communities.
