Mandatory Pre-registration
This process must be completed before your child 
receives his/her class assignment
for the 2009-2010 school year.
Site Parent Guide will be disseminated at this time, in addition to other pertinent information.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday     & Friday
1st Week: 8/31, 9/1, 9/2, 9/3, 9/4     
2nd Week: 9/8, 9/9, 9/10, 9/11
No School 9/7/09 – Labor Day Holiday
Minimum Day Dismissal Time
Kindergarteners 8:20 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
1st, 2nd & 3rd Grades 8:27 a.m. - 1:10 p.m.
4th & 5th Grades 8:20a.m. - 1:10 p.m.

Glenview Elementary School is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the flatlands of Oakland. It enjoys a very high level of parent involvement and strong administrative leadership that has organized parents and teachers into a cogent force for addressing school challenges. Numerous partnerships exist with local institutions providing enrichment during and after school.
At Glenview Elementary School every student is encouraged to be a life-long learner. To accomplish this we envision a clean, safe environment where our students are actively involved in a learning process that is exciting, meaningful and interactive. This process is built on the strengths and diversity of our multiethnic student body population. Activities are provided that enable students to take pride in who they are and to gain an understanding and appreciation of other cultures. Glenview's parents, staff, faculty, administration, and community have a strong commitment to the arts, thus making every effort to integrate programs such as dance, drama, theater, music and visual arts with the regular curriculum, giving students a broad range of ideas and inspiration so that they have a well-rounded educational experience.
You Are Important!!Parents and community friends are important. You are always welcome to share your talents and expertise. If you have an interest in science, math, performing and visual arts, desktop publishing or any other area that you would be interested in sharing with students and/or staff, just talk to the principal or classroom teacher, (510) 879-1190.
