Weare working towards the development of new arquitectural lawsfor complex networks, from biological systems, to theInternet, the web, to social networks and cities. We alsofocus on the study of jammed matter, spanning from granularmaterials, colloidal suspensions, dense emulsions to glassesin search of unifying theoretical frameworks. We explore thisvariety of out of equilibrium systems in terms of theirbehavior as they experience structural arrest or jamming. Thegroup focuses on the theoretical and computational approachesin parallel with experiments.Our research is related to "emergent properties", i.e., "propertiesnot contained in the simple laws of physics, although they area consequence of them".Top cited articles in Google Scholar profile.Our group has openings for graduate students to work on granularmatter and complex networks, broadly considered.
