Help us by donating now.Kansas Advocates for Better Care Announces Annual FundraiserSandy Praeger2014 KABC Caring Award Recipient"Stand By Me" is an annual charity event that benefits the non-profit work of Kansas Advocates for Better Care (KABC). KABC is unique in the work it does to provide guidance and assistance to elders and family caregivers faced with life-changing long-term care decisions, as well as the public policy work KABC does on behalf of elders for improved care. Stand By Me 2014 will be held on Sunday, October 26 from 2-5 p.m. at Maceli's in Lawrence, KS, 1031 New Hampshire. The 2014 KABC Caring Award will be presented to Sandy Praeger to honor her leadership for better elder care in Kansas.Stand By Me offers up live music, dance, and an auction hosted by Kim Murphree for an afternoon of relaxed fun. All proceeds from Stand By Me support KABCs work to improve elder care including caregiver training, guidance for elders and families facing long-term care decisions and problems, educational resources, and advocacy with those who set our public policies.Guest emcee Kim Murphree, owner of the Lawrence-based Murphree Network, will lead the live auction bidding on items such as a new art piece by renowned crop artist Stan Herd, a stay in a Taos NM condo, football autographed by members of the Kansas City Chiefs Ambassadors (Retired Players), performing arts tickets for Johnson County Community College and KU Lied Center, basketball autographed by KU Coach Bill Self, airtime on Kansas Public Radio, Big Band Jazz Tickets, New Theatre Restaurant Tickets, children's books autographed by local artist Stephen Johnson, and much more.Light refreshments will be served. The Fabulous Torque's will perform favorites and features Kansas Music Hall of Famer, Johnny Isom.KABC is grateful for the generous support of Stand By Me sponsors," Board President Linda Carlsen said.
