High Performance Systems Meiko is one of the pioneers of low latency scalable systems constructed from commodity processors, which transformed supercomputing. Meiko's most notable achievement was a 25 million dollar system for nuclear weapons development at the Lawrence Livermore lab in California. The company was founded in 1985 in Britain. A Japanese name - meaning "excellent engineering" - was selected to exemplify the global nature of the high performance computing market. But, in order to comply with both de jure and de facto US protectionism in this highly sensitive technology, it is legally an American company. Meiko has sold many large systems around the world - except, curiously, in the EU - and now focusses on turnkey complex server systems (>$1m), especially those for data warehousing and the internet. The site is restricted.
