Beginning December 1, the two will commence ground ambulance service from their operating location in Adin. Air Ambulance to start in Spring In the spring of 2017, they also plan to base an air ambulance helicopter in Adin to serve all of northeastern California.The ground ambulance will operate 24/7 and will operate at the Advanced Life Support level with a full-time staff of paramedics and emergency medical technicians. The helicopter, once in operation will operate at the critical care transport level and be staffed with critical care registered nurses and critical care paramedics. It will respond to the scene of the most urgent medical emergencies and be available to transport patients from local hospitals to higher levels of care at major urban medical centers. When the helicopter cannot fly due to bad weather or for maintenance issues, the crew will operate a critical care ground ambulance specially equipped that will assure the public of coverage at all times. This heavy duty ambulance was generously donated by the Pit River Nation to SCCSD to help the entire region. Both the ground and air ambulance services will provide residents of Big Valley and surrounding areas faster response to their medical emergencies and transport to the most sophisticated medical care in the region in a timely manner.
