Welcome to Open.orgOpen.org is a new Open Source community portal for news, editorial blogs and project updates. Make Open.org your source on open source. Open Source Credit Cards With the Linuxfund and BSD Fund Credit cards, you can help support open source with every purchase you make. Even better, we can get you the best interest rate! READ MORE From Linuxfund to Open.org February 22, 2011 1 Comment For over 10 years, the Linuxfund has supported open source by giving back to the community in the form of direct donations, fundraising and event support. During this time, the Linuxfund has had to adapt to the changing landscape of the open source community as well as the global economy. We have moved beyond a simple affinity credit card model to fund our activities and have expanded our options to fund projects by putting our 501(c)3 status to work. In 2010, with our expanded funding models, we have been able to get nearly $85,000 into the hands of various open source projects. In 2007, the Linuxfund created the BSDFund in order to expand our reach in the community beyond strictly Linux. In reality, the Linuxfund has never been solely committed to only Linux endeavours. Our mission has always been to support the open source community in general, focusing on the potential that a project has to contribute to the community as a whole. We are now taking this a step further and are pleased to present to you Open.org, a new community portal for news, editorial blogs and high potential open source projects. We want Open.org to be your source on open source. The Linuxfund and the BSDFund will continue their usual activities of funding open source projects and they will both continue to raise funds via direct donations as well as with our line of credit cards but under the new banner of Open.org. Open.org will allow the vision and mission of the Linuxfund to persist while making it more accessible to a wider audience. We are excited by this new direction and we hope that you will continue to support us in our activities—together let’s make open source more open!
