We specialize in providing consulting services in the areas of aseptic packaging and processing, hot-fill PET, metal and glass packaging, and identifing new packaging and technology opportunities for our clients. Raymond A. Bourque, Ph.D., MBA is President of RAY-PAK, INC. Previously Ray was Director of Packaging and Processing Technology at Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. in Lakeville/Middleboro, Massachusetts for many years. He was with Ocean Spray from 1972 to 2003. Prior to Ocean Spray, Ray worked in R&D for the General Foods, Corp. in Battle Creek, MI. Ray has been involved with package development for nearly 45 years. He has directed the development and commercialization of a variety of new packaging technologies to include aseptic paperboard, aseptic plastic form fill seal, aseptic bottling, hot-fill PET beverage packaging, hot-fill barrier plastics as well as traditional glass, metal and paperboard packaging. He received a B.S. degree in Packaging from Michigan State University, a B.A. degree in Biology from Western Michigan University, a M.B.A. degree from Northeastern University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Nutrition and Food Policy from Tufts University. Dr. Bourque is a member of The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT),. He is a past member of The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s(PMMI) Packaging Manager’s Council.Ray has served on a number of Food Products Association (FPA) committees over the years and is a past chairman of both the New Technologies Committee and the Packaging Technical Committee. He is a past chairman and one of the founders of the IFT Food Packaging Division. In 1997, Ray was the recipient of the IFT Reister-Davis Award for Outstanding Achievement in Food Packaging. In 2003, IFT awarded Ray the Industrial Scientist Award for his pioneering work in aseptic packaging and hot-fill plastic packaging. In 2004, Ray was inducted into the PMMI Packaging Hall of Fame. He holds a number of new package patents and has chaired many symposiums on Packaging sponsored by IFT, IOPP, and FPA. Ray has presented and published papers on Aseptic Packaging, Hot-Fill Packaging, Packaging Integrity, Environmental Issues, Barrier Plastics and New Package and Processing Technologies.
