Squeezing the pus out of the pimples should be avoided at all costs. The protein fibre collagen is mostly found in the second layer of the skin and is the body’s way of  repairing itself. Inflammation caused indentation of scars because of the loss of collagen from that particular infected spot. Indented scars may require a chemical peel in order to smoothen up the appearance of the whole skin.
Studies are under way on a virus that can possibly eliminate the bacteria that cause acne. Studies have shown that this virus can find that particular acne bacteria and destroy it. However more studies are required in order to get this theory into a working practice
It is plugged or blocked pores that are the main cause of this problem. When dead skin cells are shed the skin at the top of the pores will get thicker. These tiny spots are what are called the blackheads and the whiteheads. Black heads are actually black because of skin pigment. Most people think it is dirt. These are visible in people with mild acne.
Sex hormones, excess oil and a weak immune system can cause acne. However scientists now declare that it is the main presence of the acne causing bacteria is the main factor in many cases of acne.
When the cause of acne is the extra bacteria collected under the skin, antibiotic tablets may offer some help. They work by killing the bacteria, thus reducing the inflammation and the redness caused as well. 
The hair should be kept away from the face as much as possible. This is to prevent the transfer of oils which could cause the pores to clog up. This treatment is not without side effects. Burning, irritation and dryness may be felt. Azelaic acid could cause less irritation then benzoyl peroxide. It works on clearing the blackheads and the whiteheads too. It is not as good as antibiotics at reducing inflammation though.
Maintenance treatment involves the application of the topical substance using a lower dose than normal. This should help in preventing the spots from returning back again.
