What is our mission?
The mission of the ATA is to increase the use of technology by children and adults with disabilities and functional limitations. ATA encourages and facilitates the empowerment of people with disabilities to participate fully in their communities. Through public education, information and referral, capacity building in community organizations, and advocacy/policy efforts, the ATA enables millions of people to live, learn, work, define their futures, and achieve their dreams.
ATA - In The KnowSince June 2011, ATA has been accessibility consulting with Zero Divide’s Broadband Training and Access Program (BTOP) GenZD Literacy Program.  This program targets low-income youth in communities across six western  states to encourage the development of a new generation of broadband  users. The partner agencies include seven youth media anchor agencies in  California, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.  ATA’s  goal is to help each agency increase their organization’s accessibility  to individuals with disabilities. ATA’s project includes the following  components:  individualized agency accessibility assessment; development  of an implementation plan; training; and technical support over the  remaining course of the BTOP grant (June 2012).
ATA’s  initial outcome for this project is that the seven anchors agencies  will be better equipped with knowledge and tools to serve people with  disabilities. They will have developed model practices that increase  open access to each anchor agency’s training for all citizens in their  communities.  The ripple effect of this project will be very valuable to  the community of people with disabilities in these areas and beyond.  These anchor agencies are all very public, and the only thing more  powerful than word of mouth is example.
