But before launching their fourth album, the indie rock band was formerly founded during the mid-90s in the town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch in the Leicestershire. At the very beginning, they called themselves ‘Simple Pastoral Existence’ which only led them to a split between 1997 and 1999. Succeedingly, they were inspired by the Ponyclub name, but another band already had the rights on the fancy title. It is a little known fact, that the Young Knives were inspired by the term ‘young knaves’ that was often misunderstood in a book. 
However, after they became active on the stage again in 1998, their first official album was out in 2002. ‘The Young Knives… Are Dead’ contains exactly 7 songs which tend to be on the post-punk side, proceeding to be primitive and raw in terms of the tunes. The record is awarded 7 out of 10 stars by the New Musical Express, a former magazine that is now a web-based media, published since 1952, the magazine is the first British paper to publish singles chart classification.
