These will require replacing, lubricating, adjusting or straightening according to the type of defect.A garage door may refuse to open, open slowly or not stay open. This can mean that the torsion spring, extension spring, torsion spring cable or extension spring cable has broken. These would need to be replaced for the door to open without difficulty. It could also mean that the track is bent or that the spring has taken a set. Adjusting the spring and the track could also rectify the problem if that was the underlying cause. Broken torsion and extension springs could also result in the opener straining as the door opens or cause the door to bang before ceasing to function. Therefore these parts should be checked on regularly to ensure complete efficiency.
