Velosmith -for a lifetime 
A Velosmith tourers are hand-built
for a lifetime of cycling. The combination of steel tubing and careful
component choice ensures that your Velosmith
bicycle is made for the long haul.
All frame tubes (except seat and head tubes, which are rust proofed)
are sealed, no moisture can get in so no rust to shorten the life of
your frame. Components such as a Rohloff hub gears provide tens of
thousands of virtually maintenance and adjustment free kilometres.
Rohloff chains too have a reputation for being the best quality
available today. 
Steel is real
From the days of the high wheeler, bicycle frames have been
constructed from steel tubing. The invention of the safety bike
prompted the manufacture of thinner wall tubing and special steels.
This has culminated in modern steel bicycle tubing with wall
thicknesses down to 0.5mm or less but with an unprecedented strength
and resilience. It is a fact of life that when comparing frame weight
alone a steel frame is heavier than a comparable aluminium or carbon
fibre frame but once the components and the rider are added the weight
difference is less than 1%.
Velosmith frames are constructed of
Reynolds 631 or 853 main tubes and Reynolds 725 stays. These
‘heat treated’ tubes are available in variety of wall
thicknesses and sizes to suit the intended use of the bike and are
perfect for fillet-brazed construction.

via mail order, straight from the workshop to your door. This direct
