I am a recent law school graduate and currently working as the chief operating officer at a small business. Since I was a young kid I have wanted to build wells in Africa. I’m not really sure where that dream initially started, but it has persisted into adulthood and led me to research the need for clean water in many African countries. I have been lucky enough to learn and collaborate with Matt James, a truly inspiring philanthropist. Matt has been building an orphanage in Uganda for the past two years. He has nearly 160 kids at his facilities, and he just broke ground for a new orphanage at the end of 2017. After being put in contact we realized our interests came together. Matt’s newest orphanage needs a well. Between his passion for helping kids looking for a place to call home and my lifelong goal of building wells, we are working together to achieve both. So how do we do it? Thanks to our friends over at WHOlives we are going to make this become a reality through “The Village Drill.” The Village Drill is a remarkable hand-power drill that will not only build one well but hundreds. We believe The Village Drill is not only the key to building the well that the orphanage needs but to many more identical wells that are needed in Uganda and other undeveloped areas in Africa.
